The True Sports Fan: A Twelve Year-Old

About a hundred years ago, and probably two hundred pounds ago, I was twelve. I didn’t have a care in the world, and school was just some place I went until summer rolled around. I played baseball and basketball and football, I wrestled and ran track, and even skateboarded before you could make any money at it.

I was a very athletic kid and loved sports more than anything else, especially the Minnesota Vikings during football season, and the St. Louis Cardinals during baseball season. I knew every player, on just about every team. I knew what number they wore, which college they came from, what positions they played, their strengths and weaknesses, and often what their favorite food was. I was a font of sports information, and I dare anyone today to tell me that back then I didn’t know at least as much as any professional sports broadcaster.

Then something really, really bad happened. I grew up. All of a sudden I had a job, a girlfriend, and other things

Brett Favre will join or not?

Favre was a outstanding player ,and he enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career in 2009, throwing for 33 touchdowns and more than 4,200 yards in the regular season, then taking the Vikings(minnesota vikings jersey)within a field goal of the Super Bowl. That was fabulous.

As we all know that after taking home an ESPY award for “Best Play” — a dramatic, last-second game-winning TD pass to Greg Lewis against the 49ers — Brett Favre continued his now-annual dance around retirement, telling ESPN that he hasn’t yet decided if he’ll play in 2010.

In fact, the type of Favre signing, maybe going to pay for some private planes that haul back and forth from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, land of 10,000 lakes more or less.

“I still have some time,” Favre said in a post-ESPYs interview. “I’m still, believe it or not, not completely healthy, and I may never be.”

Fans of him ,and fans of minnesota vikings

Chicago Bears Tickets- Bears Struggle Through Tough Injuries

The Chicago Bears lost the top spot in the NFC North with week 13′s game against the Minnesota Vikings where the Bears lost 34-14. The loss was punctuated further by an a nose injury to Dusty Dvoracek. When Dvoracek was injured during the game against the Vikings, he bypassed the sidelines and was taken straight to the locker room. After the game, the injury was described as being a serious arm injury that could potentially have Dvoracek out for the rest of the season. This news comes just days after the Bears played cornerback Nathan Vasher on injured reserve. Vasher suffered a break on his right hand during week 12′s game against the St. Louis Rams. Although tough, injuries are not uncommon for both players.

Dusty Dvoracek has been with the Bears since they drafted him in the third round of the 2006 draft. He played his college days with Oklahoma, where he started 26 of the 48 games he played there. In his time there, he had 131 tackles, 16 sacks,

Will Brett Favre Retire? Sportsbooks think so

Brett Favre has retired…again…or maybe not…

As of Tuesday morning it looked like Favre retiring was a definite. However, 24 hours later the Minnesota Vikings reportedly are offering Favre more money to comeback. So who knows where we stand at this point. There is one group that believes that #4 is off to a life of ‘early bird specials’; that group is the online gambling outfits.

Shortly after the announcement came out Tuesday morning, the odds-makers got their calculators out and adjusted the Minnesota Vikings betting numbers for the 2010 NFL season.

Taking a glance at the Vikings pre and post retirement betting numbers, it is obvious that the bookies believe that Minnesota is a much better team with the future Hall of Famer under center, as opposed to Sage Rosenfels or Tarvaris Jackson.

Here are some of the betting odds that changed drastically on Tuesday due to Favre’s alleged retirement.

10 Players To Target In The Mid-Rounds

10 Players To Target In The Mid-Rounds

In the coming months I’m sure you’ll hear a lot about studs, duds and sleepers. Here is a list of players that really don’t fall into any of those categories. These are solid players currently going in the mid rounds that if you’re aware of can allow you to be much more confident in the early rounds. You can then take advantage of the best players available because you’ll know what to expect in the rounds to come and won’t draft simply based on need. Although these aren’t all big-name players, targeting these guys in the mid-rounds can change your entire draft strategy and the results you see significantly.

Running Backs

1. Cedric Benson- a new tackle and veteran weapons around him. The Bengals have put in new zone and man blocking schemes to accommodate his North-South running style and were pleasantly surprised with his speed on sweeps per John Clayton’s inside the huddle. Seems primed to take advantage of a great

The Saints host the NFC Championship game against the Vikings

The Saints host the NFC Championship game against the Vikings

Minnesota must be a bit worried about this game. They are certainly motivated. This is their first shot at a Super Bowl game since 1976, but playing in the Superdome is not going to make things that easy for the Vikings. Brett Favre and the team have been quite impressive at home this season.  They are 9-0 and the veteran quarterback has thrown 25 touchdown passes and only 2 interceptions. Things in the road have not been as smooth: with a 4-4 record in hand, we are quite sure that the Vikings would have loved to play at the Metrodome.

The Saints, on the other hand, are having their best season ever. They have a good chance of making it into the Super Bowl for the first time. They are only one home game away from their trip to Florida. And if that is not motivation enough for the players to go out to the field and give us one heck of a game, they don’t belong in the NFL. No matter whom you are cheering for, this is going to be one hell of a match. Read more..
